An Evening with Frank DeFord

Description: Author and commentator Frank Deford will discuss his books on baseball, including "The Entitled," a tale of celebrity, sex and baseball and The Old Ball Game. A new novel, "Bliss, Remembered," was published in July by the Overlook Press, combining the world of sports with international intrigue.

About Frank Deford
Frank Deford is the author of fifteen books and he can be heard every Wednesday on NPR's Morning Edition. He is a regular correspondent on RealSports with Bryant Gumbel a Senior Contributing Writer at Sports Illustrated. Deford has been elected to the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Sportscasters and Sportswriters and was voted as U.S. Sportswriter of The Year six times. In broadcast, Deford has won both an Emmy and a George Foster Peabody Award.

Thankful with Kit
Time: 4:30 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road
Description: Learn about life during the Depression and how people helped each other in tough times, especially during Thanksgiving.
We’ll create a “Thankful Newspaper” inspired by Kit’s story and make bread pudding.
Read the book: “Kit Learns a Lesson”
For students in grades 3 – 5. Pre-registration required.
Program Length: 2 hours
Fee: Each Session: Members; $10, non-members, $15.

Community Day - The First Thanksgiving
Time: 1:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum & History Center
Description: Friday, November 26 1pm – 3pm
Visit the museum for family-friendly activities to commemorate the first Thanksgiving. Listen to fascinating stories from the Native American diaspora with storyteller Janis Us. Learn about how Thanksgiving was celebrated, what foods were prepared and when it became a national holiday. Create your own rattle or corn husk doll inspired by traditional customs.
