Description: Opens Sunday, June 6th 1pm – 4pm
Ogden House Closed on July 4, September 5, 12
Enjoy docent-led tours of the 1750 Ogden House and see how people lived in the 18th century. The house is furnished with period objects including textiles and fine pieces of furniture with Fairfield provenance. Take a stroll through the kitchen garden, generously maintained by the Fairfield Garden Club, and view plantings used in colonial times.

Town Ball Picnic
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum & History Center
Description: Families are encouraged to bring a picnic for a summer evening of Town Ball, which emphasizes community spirit and participation by everyone, regardless of their abilities. Town Ball, played in the early 1800s, is a casual, old-fashioned game with no foul territory – all struck balls are played! Learn about rounders, soaking, and one-out, all-out! Staff from the Bridgeport Bluefish will also be on hand with giveaways and more!

Meet Michael Bielawa or Don Harrison, who will share their passion for all things baseball in guided tours of the exhibit.
Hear the fascinating stories of teams and players who played in Connecticut that only these local experts can share! You’ll find it hard to resist the enthusiasm for baseball that unites so many fans.
Both Bielawa and Harrison are authors, historians and avid fans who served as advisors to the Museum’s baseball exhibit.

It’s Not Baseball without the Fans! with Dana Brand

Dana Brand, author of The Last Days of Shea and Mets Fan, will present readings and a discussion on the passion and enduring loyalty of baseball fans, especially the Mets.
His collection of well-crafted essays spans more than 40 years of franchise history but hews to a single theme: the experience--sometimes humorous, sometimes painful--of being a fan of the New York Mets.
From the sound of jets overhead to Keith Hernandez and the Seinfeld connection, Hofstra professor Dana Brand will share his experiences and lore that make baseball in Queens unique.

About Dana Brand
Dana Brand is a professor of English and American literature at Hofstra University. He received his Ph.D. from Yale, where he often talked baseball with A. Bartlett Giamatti, a Yale English professor who would go on to become the Commissioner of Baseball.
