Valentine's Day Tea
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum & History Center
Description: Mothers and daughters (aunts and grandmother’s too!) are invited for a ladies’ tea celebrating Valentine’s Day. Costumed storyteller Carolyn Stearns will entertain the audience with stories about family memories and Valentine’s history.
Enjoy refreshments, fresh tea and lemonade and create your own Victorian paper craft Valentines! View a mini-exhibit of interesting cards from the museum’s archives, too!
For ages 7 and up and an adult. Limited seating, pre-registration required!

Leaves and Blossoms: Stories from the Family Tree

Description: View the exhibit Our Nation’s Generations: Letters in Time on family history by students from The Unquowa School and hear some great family stories with Carolyn Stearns. Learn about collecting family stories, family story games and making a time and place for family stories.

Workshop: Sea Storms & Shipwrecks

Description: Vacation Workshop for Kids in Grades 3 – 5

Listen to harrowing stories of ships lost at sea by sailors and captains from Fairfield! Construct a ship and create a stormy scene or rescue in your own diorama. Please bring a smock and a peanut-free snack.

Join authors, scholars and university professors for a lively discussion focused on a theme in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Each presenter will suggest a book for participants to read and will lead an interesting and engaging discussion based on the book. We hope you have the opportunity to read the book, but it’s not required!
Refreshments will be served. Please pre-register.

Girls' Club!

Description: Inspired by dolls and history, learn about a time period and make a craft or delicious food to eat!
Celebrate the Chinese New Year, The Year of the Tiger, with Julie and her friend Ivy Ling with activities inspired by Chinese culture.

Description: Do you love history and have a knack for telling a good story? Become a Museum Ambassador! Learn more at the museum’s volunteer open house.
The Education Department is looking for museum docents to lead tours to groups of all ages. Docents are super-volunteers: teachers and storytellers who love to learn and to share their interests with others. Participants in the training sessions will meet new people with similar interests, learn about the community and share their own experiences with the group.
